The Power of Working Together
Bob Batory, vice president of Human Resources for WellSpan Health in York, says SCWIB helped identify high-demand allied healthcare specialties: radiologic technologists, nurse anesthetists, medical technologists and pharmacists. Once identified, industry leaders could collaborate to increase the aggregate supply. SCWIB also provided critical supervisory training to help with employee retention.
He says collaborative efforts among the area's healthcare providers and educators have increased the pool of qualified nursing candidates in the last year, too. A recent advertising campaign is a good example of how PA CareerLinks works.
Interested candidates called toll-free for health career information and were then invited to an orientation to receive information and resources that would help them begin training.
"Pooling resources is more economically viable," says Batory. "I don't think any one organization could produce the results we have seen."
