Safety on the Job

The employees at Stephen F. Peters, Inc., a Newport-based masonry contracting firm, used the SCWIB as a springboard for a very successful safety program. "It's much more accessible to us this way," says president, Steve Peters.

His employees created a safety committee and reported no major accidents with zero workers' compensation claims. Claims in past years ranged from $20,000 - $40,000. The savings go into the employee's pockets. Steve says he is glad the training programs are accessible to smaller companies, too.

It's good to know that "the guy working next to us is safe," he explains.
