Included in the Logistics & Transportation/Department of Defense & Supply cluster are industries related to the storage, transportation and distribution of goods - including all modes of transportation, pipelines, logistics consulting, and other supporting industries.
The Harrisburg, Carlisle, and York triangle has one of the premier logistics transportation business locations in the entire country. Our ports, rail systems, and highways make us highly competitive in the warehousing and shipment of goods. As these services increasingly become mechanized, a qualified workforce becomes vital to future development efforts.
The strategic plan focuses on Education and Training, Best Practices, Career Pathways and Awareness, and Sustainability. To date, the Partnership has successfully utilized funding from the PA Department of Labor & Industry to address education and training of incumbent workers for a variety of knowledge and skill sets, including welding, supervisory training, generational diversity, defensive driving, forklift operation, and more.
Outcomes achieved to date include:
- Nearly 2000 workers trained
- Engaged more than 125 employers, including small, medium and large organizations
- Leveraged more than $2 million in cash and in-kind resources targeted to industry efforts
