Information and Communication Services
Information and Communication Services
This cluster includes businesses that produce and disseminate information: motion pictures, newspapers, and information support industries like computer systems design and internet service providers. Communication equipment manufacturers and Technical Consulting are also included.
A Growth Industry
Although total employment is among the smallest of the statewide clusters, the average annual wages paid demonstrates a significant slice of Pennsylvania's workforce economy. Many of these industries use technology that does not require significant investments in physical assets and employs a mobile, often dispersed workforce.
The Partnership's strategy remains focused on bringing together and surveying partnership leaders to assess, review and produce solution deployments. These range from vital training needs, skill-gaps, and new career pathways, to more technology jobs for minorities and women.
The incumbent worker training, the meetings of the Governance Board as well as the Industry Partnership events continue to highlight and reinforce a robust, visible and open career pathway for our technology workforce, at a critical time in the economic cycle.
Outcomes achieved to date include:
- Over 3,700 trained
- Engaged over 252 different employers, ranging from small to large organizations
- Leveraged more than $4.2 million in cash and in-kind resources targeted to industry efforts
